Our own Garrick Huey, Senior Account Manager at Advanced Systems Group, is now one of the SMPTE San Francisco Section’s Managers under the leadership of Chair Shane Ruggieri.

Huey’s experience in broadcast television and film spans more than 30 years. He actively participated in ASGs’ outreach efforts to students and new careerists on behalf of SMPTE, Visual Effects Society, and other professional associations in the media entertainment industry. In collaboration with his ASG colleague, John Shike, these efforts have established SMPTE Student Chapters at De Anza College, San Francisco State University, and City College San Francisco (CCSF). ASG has also sponsored and participated in many SMPTE meetings and events for students’ enrichment, and professionals.

“I’m looking forward to working with John Shike, 2024 SMPTE Membership Director, and continuing efforts to promote and recruit students into Media & Entertainment, Broadcast & Radio, and other related fields to the SMPTE organization,” says Huey.
